The Drikung Meditation Center, Tibetan Buddhism in the Boston Area
The Drikung Meditation Center is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation center in Arlington, Massachusetts (in the metro Boston area), dedicated to the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings as preserved in the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. We are a Vajrayana Buddhist Center that is a branch of Tibet’s famous Katsel monastery. It is our aspiration to make a Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site featuring an “emanation replica” of the famous Jowo Rinpoche statue in Lhasa, Tibet. The U.S. Drikung Jowo Rinpoche, nearly completed, will be the main feature of this pilgrimage site.
We meet on Sundays and Wednesdays for teachings and meditation practice with our resident Lama (teacher) and spiritual director, Lama Sonam. The vajrayana practice Green Tara is a regular practice that we do that anyone can experience. You do not need previous meditation experience to do our practices. We also host a variety of great masters and Rinpoches throughout the year to make their teachings available to the greater Boston community.
We welcome anyone and everyone to come and join us for the Dharma. We are here to serve the community and to bring the happiness and joy of the Buddhist teachings to everyone who is interested.
